Beyond the Classroom
There are many educational opportunities beyond our school doorstep. We try to offer real experiences for our children and often explore the outdoors.
There are many kinds of ‘trips’ and we carry out a risk assessment for each activity. The ratio of adults to children will be decided on the outcome of this.
For an exploration of the immediate vicinity we make use of our generous adult / child ratio.
For a visit to a museum, for example, we may improve the ratio to have one adult to 3 or 4 children.
It really depends on the age of the group and the nature of the visit. Before any outing you have the opportunity to ask the teacher what the specific arrangements are.
Parents may be requested to provide transport on some of these outings.
During the week we use the services of a qualified dance teacher and a qualified sports teacher.
These additional services take place during the curriculum time and are included in the fee.
As children get older they are ready to become independent and stay longer at school. Once children start staying for full days they may choose to stay longer for clubs.
Clubs sometimes change from term to term and children are expected to commit to the whole course (usually about 12 weeks). There are no clubs in the first or last week of a term.
Examples of clubs: Drama, Dance, Art, Computer, Ballet, Cookery, Cross Stitch, Football.
Clubs are for children only, parents don’t stay. However, some clubs invite parents to watch the LAST session of the term.
