Early Years Curriculum
InSPE provides a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, which addresses the developmental needs of the whole child. We refer to it as a holistic curriculum. It is based on best practice in UK Schools, with influences from around the world, enriched and adapted for an International Community.
English is the only language used in the Nursery school. As most children have English as a second language it is essential that the early curriculum is not language based. The distinctive early years curriculum allows equality of access as children experience the concepts in a practical, ‘hands on’ way. Children can start learning from the minute they walk into a classroom.
The curriculum used at the school is planned within the following areas of learning and experience:
All staff have long term, medium term and short term plans with learning objectives relevant to their children’s ages and stages of development. Activities are planned which allow for differentiation according to ability.
There is a cycle of planning, implementation, evaluation and assessment. Records are kept using observations as an evidence base.
