All children have needs which are special to themselves. At InSPE we emphasise that the child comes before the need. Any child may experience difficulties at some stage during his or her development.

The approach throughout InSPE is to offer supported and differentiated learning objectives which provide access for all pupils to a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum. Through the provision of in-class support and differentiated resources, SEN pupils are integrated into the school. In some circumstances extra 1:1 support may be needed and this may be provided inside or outside of the classroom. This may incur an additional charge.

The school works with the parents for the benefit of the child. There is a designated SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator) who has responsibility for overseeing referrals and meetings. However, if all strategies have been exhausted and the school is unable to meet the needs of the child, the school retains the right to recommend to parents that they seek an alternative facility where their child’s needs can be addressed.

Alternatively, in cases where the child’s inclusion would be incompatible with the efficient education of the other children, the school reserves the right to withdraw the place.
